The fourth annual Nun Run 5K will be Saturday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Convent in Blauvelt.
The race, which begins and ends at the convent, takes runners throughout Blauvelt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three women, men, boys and girls finishers.
Twenty nuns were among the early entries for the race. Representing the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, the race organizers, are Sister Pat Howell, O.P., Sister Ceil Lavan, O.P., Sister Mary Ann Collins, O.P., Sister Dorothy Maxwell, O.P., Sister Mary Eileen O’Brien, O.P., Sister Terry Rickard, O.P., Sister Mary Flood, O.P., and Sister Noreen Walsh, O.P.
The Maryknoll Sisters were represented by Sister Anastasia Lott, M.M., Sister Teruko Ito, M.M., Sister Theresia Ndesoma, M.M.; Sister Felista Wanzagi, M.M., Sister Luise Ahrens, M.M.; Sister Rebecca Nyaki, M.M., Sister Magreth Mkenda, M.M., Sister Rita Burdzy, M.M., Sister Darlene Jacobs, M.M., Sister Margie Kollmer, M.M., Sister Carolyn White, M.M., and Sister Connie Krautkremer, M.M.
The race fee is $32, plus a $3 sign-up fee. After May 7, the race fee increases to $35, plus the $3 sign-up fee. Runners registering online may use the promo code CATHOLICNEWYORK to receive a $5 discount.
