Pastors Appointed in Four Parishes

Four pastors, one administrator and one temporary administrator were appointed to parishes, the Cardinal’s Office announced. Also, one administrator was reappointed for one year.
Appointed pastors were Father William Damroth, combined parish of Sacred Heart and St. Francis of Assisi in Newburgh, now named the Parish of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta (CNY, Sept. 27), effective July 1; Father Salvatore DeStefano, combined parish of St. Clare of Assisi and St. Francis Xavier, the Bronx, effective Sept. 1; Father Edward O’Halloran, St. John and St. Mary, Chappaqua, effective Sept. 15; and Father John Palatucci, combined parish of St. John the Evangelist and St. Charles Borromeo, Pawling, effective Sept. 1.
Father Dessier Predelus was appointed administrator of St. Gabriel-St. Joseph, New Rochelle, effective Sept. 15. Father Robert Badillo, M.Id., the pastor of Our Lady of Solace-St. Dominic parish in the Bronx, has also been named temporary administrator of Santa Maria parish, the Bronx.
Reappointed for one year was Father John Duffell, administrator of Blessed Sacrament parish, Manhattan.

PASTORS
Father William Damroth
had been pastor of St. Francis of Assisi, Newburgh, since 2016 and temporary administrator of Sacred Heart, Newburgh, since last year. The parishes merged July 1. He served at St. Francis of Assisi, Mount Kisco, as temporary administrator, 2014-2015, and parochial vicar, 2011-2014. At Our Lady Queen of Peace on Staten Island, he was temporary administrator, 2006-2010, and parochial vicar, 2006. He was parochial vicar of Immaculate Conception, Stony Point, 2010-2011; Annunciation, Crestwood, 1998-2004; Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 1996-1998; and Christ the King, Yonkers, 1993-1996. He was ordained in 1993.

Father Salvatore DeStefano had been administrator of St. Clare of Assisi since March and pastor of St. Francis Xavier since 2017. He served as temporary administrator of St. John the Evangelist, Pawling, and St. Charles Borromeo, Dover Plains, 2016-2017. He was parochial vicar of St. Clare of Assisi, 2012-2016, and SS. John and Paul, Larchmont, 2008-2012. He was ordained in 2008.

Father Edward O’Halloran had been pastor of St. Gabriel-St. Joseph, New Rochelle, since 2015. He was pastor of St. Joseph, New Rochelle, 2012-2015, and St. Denis, Yonkers, 1993-2011, where he was administrator, 1993. He was parochial vicar of St. Patrick, Verplanck, 2012; St. John, Kingsbridge, 1981-1985; and Our Lady of Solace, the Bronx, 1978-1981. He served on the faculty of Cathedral Prep Seminary, 1985-1993. He was ordained in 1978.

Father John Palatucci had served as administrator of St. John the Evangelist, Pawling, since last year. He was parochial vicar of St. Aedan, Pearl River, 2015-2017; St. Paul, Congers, 2011-2015; St. Helena, the Bronx, 2010-2011 and 2004-2007; and St. Joseph-St. Thomas, Staten Island, 2007-2010. He was ordained in 2004.

ADMINISTRATOR
Father Dessier Predelus had been parochial vicar of St. Catherine of Genoa parish, Manhattan, since 2013. He was parochial vicar of St. Joseph, Spring Valley, 2003-2013. Ordained in his native Haiti in 1991, he was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2012.

TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATOR
Father Robert Badillo, M.Id., has served since 2007 as pastor of Our Lady of Solace-St. Dominic parish, the Bronx. Since 2011, he has also served as provincial superior of the Idente Missionaries in the United States. Before coming to Our Lady of Solace-St. Dominic, he was provincial of the Idente Missionaries province in Cochin, Kerala, India, 2000-2007. He was ordained for the Idente Missionaries in 1995.
