Pastors Appointed in Manhattan, Staten Island

Father John Fraser has been named pastor of St. Malachy’s parish in Manhattan, and Father Albin Roby Antony has been appointed pastor of St. Adalbert-St. Roch parish on Staten Island, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.
Both had been serving as administrators of their parishes. Their appointments were effective March 1.
Also, Father Salvatore DeStefano, pastor of St. Francis Xavier parish in the Bronx, has been named administrator of St. Clare of Assisi parish in the Bronx, in addition to his current position. His appointment took effect Feb. 22.

Father John Fraser had served as temporary administrator of St. Malachy’s since last July. Before then, he had served as pastor of Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, since 2005. He was parochial vicar of St. Bernard, White Plains, 2005; St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 1999-2005, where he was assistant master of ceremonies; and St. Anthony’s, Yonkers, 1996-1999. He was ordained in 1999.

Father Albin Roby Antony had served as administrator of St. Adalbert-St. Roch since 2016. He served as parochial vicar of two Staten Island parishes, Blessed Sacrament, 2010-2016, and St. Charles, 1998-2010. He was ordained in 1986 for the Diocese of Kottar in his native India and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2016.

Father Salvatore DeStefano has served since last September as pastor of St. Francis Xavier, a post he will continue to hold. Before then, he was temporary administrator of St. John the Evangelist, Pawling, and St. Charles Borromeo, Dover Plains, for nearly a year. He was parochial vicar of St. Clare of Assisi, 2012-2016, and SS. John and Paul, Larchmont, 2008-2012. He was ordained in 2008.
