Sister Antoinette Iorio, M.P.F.

Sister Antoinette Iorio, M.P.F., who taught at St. Ann in East Harlem for nearly a decade, died Jan. 16 at St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, in Morristown, N.J. She was 98.

She taught at St. Ann School, 1945-1954, and also taught in elementary schools in New Jersey. She later served as a school librarian and as a school assistant.

She also served as a local superior in New Jersey.

Born in New York City, she entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1937 and made final vows in 1942.

When returning to Villa Walsh in 1997, she operated the Villa Gift Shop and assisted in other service. She became a resident at St. Joseph Hall, Home Healthcare Center for the Filippini Sisters, in 2017.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 21 in St. Lucy Chapel at Villa Walsh in Morristown. Interment was at Ave Maria Cemetery at Villa Walsh.
