Sister Carolyn Curtin, R.S.C.J.

Sister Carolyn Curtin, R.S.C.J., a teacher and pianist, died Jan. 16 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, where she had resided at Teresian House. She was 85. She taught piano at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan from 1969 until 1983, when she retired to Kenwood Convent in Albany. She also taught in New York City and at Sacred Heart schools in Massachusetts and Connecticut, 1944-1953, and in Albany and Michigan. Born in Waltham, Mass., she entered the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1946 and professed final vows in 1955. She held a bachelor's degree from Manhattanville College and a master's from Columbia University Teachers College, both in piano. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 20 at Kenwood Convent, with burial in the convent cemetery.
