Sister Cosmas Di Girolamo

Sister Cosmas Di Girolamo, F.M.S.C., who served as a teacher and child care worker, died Jan. 2 at Mount St. Francis in Peekskill. She was 92.

She served in the archdiocese at the Boys’ House of St. Joseph’s, Peekskill, 1942-1943; All Saints Day Nursery, Manhattan, 1943-1944; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School, Manhattan, 1966-1968; and at St. Teresa’s, Sleepy Hollow. She also taught at schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Franciscan Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1939 and made final vows in 1946.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Ladycliff College.

She is survived by a brother, Louis, and a sister, Rose.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 8 at Mount St. Francis. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery there.
