Sister Ellen Cecile Roach, O.P., a Dominican Sister of Peace, died Jan. 7 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She was 91.
A native of Manhattan, she was a Dominican Sister for 70 years and served as a teacher and school administrator in Catholic schools around the country. Locally, she taught at St. Vincent Ferrer and SS. Simon and Jude schools, both in Brooklyn, and was an office assistant at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Queens.
She is survived by two brothers, Joseph and James, and a sister, Mary Kenny. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 14 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel, with burial in the St. Catharine motherhouse cemetery.
