Sister Frances Doyle, S.U., a high school teacher for many years, died Nov. 29 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck. She was 88. She taught at John A. Coleman Catholic High School in Kingston, 1966-1974 and 1983-1995. She also taught in Manhattan at Cathedral High School, 1947-1949, 1950-1953 and 1959-1965; and Notre Dame School, 1945-1946, 1949-1950 and 1974-1977. Sister Frances, formerly known as Sister Mary Andrew, also taught at the Academy of St. Ursula, Kingston, and the Academy of Our Lady of Lourdes, Manhattan, 1938-1942. She served her congregation, the Society of St. Ursula, in Rome, at Linwood Spiritual Center in Rhinebeck, and at St. Joseph's parish, Kingston, 1953-1955. Born in Springfield, Mass., she held a bachelor's degree from Manhattanville College and a master's from Fordham University. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Doyle, and two aunts, Sisters Marie Edward, S.U., and Marie Antoine, S.U. A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 4 at Linwood Spiritual Center, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
