Sister Frances Mary Horan, M.M., who was a missioner to Panama, died March 1 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 94.

Sister Frances Mary was a member of the Maryknoll Sisters for 75 years.

In 1987, she was assigned to Panama, where she worked with the Vincentian Fathers as a member of the Urban Pastoral Team and director of religious education. She retired in 2008, but continued to do pastoral work and visit the sick and elderly until returning to the Maryknoll Sisters Center in 2012.

She also was an elementary school teacher and a principal in Chicago in the 1980s. In the 1960s and early 1970s, she served in the nursing home at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, did catechetical work in Houston and was a school secretary in Chicago.

Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1944 and made final vows in 1950. She held a bachelor’s degree in elementary school education from DePaul University in Chicago. She was formerly known as Sister Consolata Marie.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 13 in the main chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was at the sisters’ cemetery.
