Sister Francis Xavier Broyles, O.P., who taught French and Spanish in archdiocesan schools, died July 18 in Siena Hall Infirmary at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 100.

She taught at Aquinas High School and St. Ann's School, both in the Bronx, and at Cathedral High School in Manhattan. She also taught in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the dioceses of Brooklyn and Syracuse.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1927 and professed final vows in 1935. She held a bachelor's degree in French from Manhattan College and a master's in Spanish from Fordham University.

After retiring from teaching she lived at Aquinas Convent in the Bronx until she returned to Dominican Convent in Sparkill in 1991.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 23, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill.
