Sister Grace Mary Kuji, M.M., who served in Japan for 45 years, died Dec. 4 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 91.
Sister Grace Mary was in Japan, 1994-2001 and 1954-1992. She served at the Maryknoll Sisters Center as a member of the pastoral care unit, 2001-2011, and as sacristan in the main chapel, 1992-1994.
Born in Tsingtao, China, Sister Grace Mary entered the Maryknoll Sisters Novitiate in 1951 and professed final vows in 1960.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in social science from Japan’s Women’s College, Tokyo.
Her brothers, Hiroshi and Manabu Fujita, and her sister, Shigeko Onosuka, survive her.
Sister Grace Mary donated her body to science. A Memorial Mass was celebrated Dec. 11 in Annunciation Chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center.
