Sister Helen Marie Kenny, M.M. who served as a nurse for many years in Hong Kong, died Jan. 4 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 88.

Sister Helen Marie served in Hong Kong beginning the 1950s and culminating as nursing service director at Maryknoll Hospital, 1970-1984.

In 1985, she returned to the Mary-knoll Sisters Center in Ossining for congregational service in the sisters’ nursing home until 1988, when she returned to Hong Kong to set up a hospice care unit at Maryknoll Hospital. In 1990, she began a period of extensive volunteering in Hong Kong for several years.

In 2012, she retired at Maryknoll in Ossining.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1949 and professed final vows in 1955. She held a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villanova University, and a master’s in nursing administration from Columbia University.

Her sister Catherine survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 8 in Annunciation Chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was at the Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery.
