Sister Jean Marie Ford, R.S.C.J.

Sister Jean Marie Ford, R.S.C.J., former general council member and provincial of the Society of the Sacred Heart, died March 16 in Albany. She was 85.

She served on the first provincial leadership council of the United States Province of the Society of the Sacred Heart, 1982-1988. She was a member of the society’s general leadership council in Rome, 1988-1994. She was provincial of the Washington, D.C., province, 1972-1978.

She served at Sprout Creek Farm, an educational ministry in Poughkeepsie, 1994-2009.

She also served in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Rhode Island and Florida.

Born in Boston, she professed first vows with the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1951 and final vows in 1956.

She held a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in history from Manhattanville College and a master’s degree in theology from Providence College.

She is survived by her sister, Eunice Williams. A Funeral Mass was offered March 26 in the Teresian House Chapel in Albany. Burial was in Kenwood Cemetery in Albany.
