Sister Jorene Cieciuch, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope who served at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan for 18 years, died Nov. 24 at the Wartburg in Mount Vernon. She was 86.

She served in the patient representative program at St. Vincent’s, 1989-2007. She provided pastoral services and served as director and co-director at the Dominican Reflection Center, Ossining, 1976-1982; was principal at Holy Rosary School, Hawthorne, 1964-1965; and taught at Casa San Jose, Newburgh, 1949-1950. She also taught in New Jersey.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she entered the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1947 and professed final vows in 1952.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Nazareth College, a master’s in musicology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a master’s in religious studies from the Maryknoll School of Theology.

She is survived by her brother, Richard. A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 29 in the chapel at the Dominican Sisters Center of Hope, Ossining. Burial was in the Dominican Sisters Cemetery, Ossining.
