Sister June Quinlan, O.P., of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, who served as director of religious education at Holy Rosary parish in Hawthorne for 17 years, died Feb. 8 at St. Catherine of Siena Convent in Caldwell, N.J. She was 86.
Sister June served at Holy Rosary, 1985-2002. She served as director of religious education at St. Joseph’s parish, Bronxville, 2002-2009; and taught at Holy Family School, New Rochelle, 1973-1985.
She also taught in New Jersey and Connecticut.
Born in Mount Vernon, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1960 and professed final vows in 1968.
Sister June earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, and a master’s in religious studies from Manhattan College, the Bronx.
A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 13 in the chapel at the Mariandale Center, Ossining. Burial of the cremains was in Dominican Sisters Cemetery, Ossining.
