Sister Kevin Marie MacDonald, S.C.

Sister Kevin Marie MacDonald, S.C., who taught at several schools in the archdiocese, died Jan. 26 in St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers. She was 86.

Education was her major ministry.

She initially served at St. Agatha’s Home, Nanuet, 1955-1957. She was then assigned to St. Joseph’s School, Yonkers, 1957-1959; and Sacred Heart School, Staten Island, 1959-1964. From 1964 until 1980 he served as a teacher and religion coordinator at St. Paul’s School, East Harlem.

In 1980 she returned to Staten Island where she taught at St. Mary’s School for two years. She then taught at St. Anthony’s, the Bronx, until 1984. From 1990 to 1996 she taught computer classes at SS. Peter and Paul School, the Bronx. She also taught at schools in Queens.

Born in Manhattan, she entered Sisters of Charity of New York in 1952 and professed final vows in 1960. She held a bachelor’s degree in history from Hunter College and a master’s in history from The Catholic University of America.

A sister, Kathleen Kenny, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 31 at Mary the Queen Convent, Yonkers. Burial was St. Joseph’s Cemetery,

Yonkers.
