Sister Linda Bonasera, O.P., assistant principal at Msgr. Scanlan High School in the Bronx, died June 2 at Einstein Hospital in the Bronx. She was 64.

She had served at Msgr. Scanlan for 39 years, as assistant principal since 1979 and as a teacher, 1969-1979. She also taught at St. Anthony’s School in Nanuet, 1967-1968; St. Brendan’s in the Bronx, 1966-1967; and in Binghamton.

Born in New York City, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1964 and professed final vows in 1976. She held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, a master’s in mathematics from Villanova University and an administration certificate from Manhattan College.

She is survived by two stepsisters, Patricia Smart and Karen Kee.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 6 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Dominican Convent, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, both in Sparkill.
