Sister Loretta McIvor, O.P., a principal and teacher in the archdiocese, died March 20 at Nyack Hospital. She was 68 and had resided in St. Martin de Porres Infirmary at St. Dominic's Convent in Blauvelt since 2001. Formerly known as Sister Anna Loretta, she was principal of SS. Peter and Paul School in Mount Vernon, 1977-1984, and taught at Trinity Catholic School, Port Jervis, 1984-1992; St. Aloysius, Livingston Manor, 1967-1969; and in the Bronx at Holy Spirit, 1974-1977; SS. Philip and James, 1970-1971; St. Luke's, 1966-1967; Our Lady of the Assumption, 1962-1966; and St. Anselm's, 1960-1962. She was a teaching assistant at St. Catharine's School, Blauvelt, 1996-2001, and a group mother at St. Dominic's Home, Blauvelt, 1969-1970. She also taught in New Jersey and was an advocate for the developmentally disabled in Florida. Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt in 1956 and professed final vows in 1964. She held a bachelor's degree in education from Dominican College and a master's in religious studies from Fordham University. She is survived by two brothers, Brian and Dennis, and was predeceased by a sister, Sister M. Dennis, O. Carm. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Dominic's Convent March 23, with burial in the convent cemetery.
