Sister M. Helen Hemmer, I.H.M, a teacher at Holy Trinity School in Poughkeepsie for four years, died May 18 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 90.

Sister Helen taught at Holy Trinity, 1961-1965. She was a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace, 2009-2018, and was a consultant with William H. Sadlier, a publishing firm in Manhattan, 1989-2007. She also served in Brooklyn, Syracuse, Baltimore, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Born in Syracuse, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1946 and professed final vows in 1952.

Her brother, Nicholas Hemmer, and her sister, Sister M. Rosarii, I.H.M., survive her. A Funeral Mass was offered May 23 at Our Lady of Peace Residence. Burial was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
