Sister M. Jamesella Mawhinney, I.H.M., a teacher at St. Ann’s School in Nyack for three years, died May 2 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 88.
Sister Jamesella taught at St. Ann’s, 1953-1956. She was a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 2012-2018, and served as a nurse in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Born in Baldwinsville, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1950 and professed final vows in 1956.
A Funeral Mass was offered May 7 in Our Lady of Peace Residence. Burial was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
