Sister M. Paul Gabriel Licameli, F.M.S.C.

Sister M. Paul Gabriel Licameli, F.M.S.C., a teacher at many schools in the archdiocese who also served as provincial treasurer of her religious congregation, died June 15 at Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill. She was 84.

She was provincial treasurer of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart from 1986 until her retirement in 2005. She also served in the treasurer's office from 1979 to 1982.

Sister M. Paul Gabriel taught at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in Manhattan, 1958-1962, and then briefly at St. Veronica's School there. She also taught at Ladycliff Academy, Mohegan Lake, 1965-1969; Immaculate Conception School, Irvington-on-Hudson, 1973-1974; and Assumption School, 1975-1976, and St. Columbanus, 1977-1979, both in Peekskill. She also taught in New Jersey and in Philadelphia.

Born in West New York, N.J., she entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in 1945 and professed final vows in 1952. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Ladycliff College in Highland Falls and a master's degree in religious studies from Manhattanville College.

She is survived by five brothers and four sisters. A Funeral Mass was offered July 18 at Mount St. Francis Chapel in Peekskill, with burial at the sisters' cemetery there.
