Sister Marie Gerard Buckley, O.P., who for many years served ill and elderly Dominican Sisters in Newburgh, died Aug. 27 at St. Luke's Hospital there. She was 95. She was infirmary administrator at Mount St. Mary Convent from 1968 to 1972, and from 1972 to 1994 she provided a variety of pastoral and personal care services for Siena Hall residents at the Dominican Sisters of Hope Center. Both facilities are in Newburgh. She was supervisor of students at Holy Rosary Academy in Manhattan, 1947-1952, and was a switchboard operator at Mount St. Mary Academy in Newburgh, 1946-1947. She also was a teacher in New Jersey and in Connecticut. Born in Rosendale, she entered the Dominican Sisters in 1944 and professed final vows in 1949. A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 30 in the chapel of the Dominican Sisters of Hope in Newburgh, with burial in the cemetery there.
