Sister Marie Patrick McDermott, S.S.N.D., who taught for more than 50 years in Brooklyn and Long Island, died Feb. 23 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. She was 85.
She taught at St. Brigid’s School, Westbury, 1980-2006, and she lived at the convent there in retirement. She earlier taught at St. Anselm School, Brooklyn.
Born in Brookville, she professed vows with the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1964.
A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 29 at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton, Conn. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bethel, Conn.
