Sister Mary Catherine Walsh, R.S.H.M.

Sister Mary Catherine Walsh, R.S.H.M., who taught at Marymount schools, died Aug. 19 at Marymount International School in Surrey, England. She was 92.

Sister Mary Catherine, formerly known as Sister Berchmans, taught at Marymount School of New York, 1936-1940, and 1946-1948, and at Marymount Manhattan College, 1948-1955. She was librarian at Marymount Academy, Tarrytown, 1940-1946.

She also served as superior of the religious community at Marymount School of New York, 1960-1965. She was superior of Marymount's community in Virginia, and was a teacher and administrator of Marymount schools in England and Rome, Italy.

Born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1934 and professed final vows in 1941.

She held a bachelor's degree in English from Marymount College, a bachelor's in library science from Columbia University, and a master's in English from Fordham University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 26 at Marymount in Kingston, England.
