Sister Mary Earley, I.H.M.

Sister Mary Earley, I.H.M., a former director of admissions at Marywood College in Scranton, Pa., who also taught in Manhattan, died July 28 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. She was 93.

She was appointed the first director of admissions for the college in 1963, and remained in the post until 1975. She also served on the college's board of trustees. She served two terms as president of Catholic Colleges of Women Admissions Officers.

In the archdiocese she taught at St. Alphonsus High School in Manhattan, 1958-1959.

She taught and served as principal at schools in Brooklyn and Pennsylvania, and was a guidance counselor on Long Island.

Born in Pittston, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1934 and professed final vows in 1940. She held a bachelor's degree in education from Marywood College and a master's in secondary school counseling from Duquesne University.

A Funeral Mass was offered July 31 at Our Lady of Peace Residence, with burial in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
