Sister Mary Giles Howes, O.P., a former teacher in Manhattan, died Oct. 5 at the motherhouse of the Sinsinawa Dominicans in Sinsinawa, Wis. She was 84.
She taught at Corpus Christi School, Manhattan, 1980-1985. She also taught in New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana, Alabama and the District of Columbia.
Born in Omaha, Neb., she entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1944 and professed final vows in 1949.
A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 13 in Queen of the Rosary Chapel in Sinsinawa, with burial in the motherhouse cemetery.
