Sister Mary Heyser, R.S.H.M., who served as alumnae chaplain of Marymount College of Fordham University in Tarrytown for nine years, died Nov. 4 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 79.

Sister Mary was alumnae chaplain, 2009-2018. She was provincial councilor of the Eastern American Province of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 2003-2009. She served as campus minister at Dominican College, 1982-1988, and worked in public relations at Manhattan College, the Bronx, 1970.

She also served in Nassau County, Suffolk County, Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Born in New York City, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary at the novitiate in Tarrytown in 1964 and professed final vows in Pueblo, Colo., in 1971.

Her sister, Sally Ryan, survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 7 in Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
