Sister Mary Jean Morrow, P.B.V.M.

Sister Mary Jean Morrow, P.B.V.M., who taught for 37 years at St. Michael Academy in Manhattan, died Sept. 29 at Mount St. Joseph Convent in New Windsor. She was 97.

She taught at St. Michael’s from 1933 to 1970. She also taught at Mount St. Joseph Academy, 1932; St. Michael’s Elementary School, 1932-1933; John S. Burke Catholic High School, Goshen, 1970-1971; and St. Jude’s School, Manhattan, 1971-1977. After retiring from teaching she worked as a medical secretary in the finance office at Mount St. Joseph until 1999.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of the Presentation of New Windsor in 1929 and made final vows in 1935. She held a bachelor’s degree in Latin from Manhattan College and a master’s in education from Fordham University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 1 at Mount St. Joseph. Burial followed at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery.
