Sister Mary Martina Lynch, R.D.C.

Sister Mary Martina Lynch, R.D.C., a teacher who later became a practical nurse, died Dec. 18 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home, Dobbs Ferry. She was 91. She taught at St. Frances de Chantal School, the Bronx, 1939-1952; St. Lawrence O’Toole School, Brewster, 1952-1969; Holy Name of Jesus School, Valhalla, 1969-1970; and Good Counsel Academy Elementary School, White Plains, 1970-1976. She then began studies at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Yonkers, to become a licensed practical nurse, and in 1977 began nursing service at the infirmary at Good Counsel convent in White Plains. Born in Convent Station, N.J., she was baptized Catherine Veronica Lynch and entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion in 1936. She professed final vows in 1945. She held a bachelor’s degree from Good Counsel College, White Plains. She is survived by a sister, Sister Winifred Lynch, O.P., of Adrian, Mich. A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 24 in the Chapel of the Divine Compassion, White Plains, with burial in Calvary Cemetery there.
