Sister Mary Murtagh, O.S.F., who was director of pastoral services at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Staten Island, died Jan. 11 at the center. She was 88.

She had served at Clove Lakes since 1994. She raised funds for Clove Lakes and the American Cancer Society.

Sister Mary was a child care worker at St. Elizabeth’s at Mount Loretto on Staten Island, 1953-1956, where she also was a teacher and director of child care, 1958-1973. She was a teacher at Nazareth Day Nursery, Manhattan, 1956-1958.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities in 1950 and professed final vows in 1956. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University.

She is survived by her twin, Sister Ann Murtagh, O.S.F. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 14 at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus on Staten Island. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
