Sister Mary Verda Mutz, P.V.M.I., who was the oldest Parish Visitor of Mary Immaculate, died Oct. 31 at Tallon Terrace, Marycrest Convent, Monroe. She was 103. Asked on her 100th birthday to what she attributed her longevity, she said, "It's not to what, it's to whom. God gave me this long life." She served at Marycrest from 1982, as assistant for 10 years to the general treasurer, followed by semi-retirement and work in the convent library. She did clerical work there, 1970-1971. She also did family visitations in Resurrection parish in Harlem, 1969-1970; in Holy Trinity parish, Poughkeepsie, 1971-1972; and in other dioceses. Born in Joliet, Ill., she entered the Parish Visitors in 1942 and professed final vows in 1948. She is survived by a brother, Raymond. A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 3 in Immaculate Conception Chapel at Marycrest, with burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Cemetery there.
