Sister Patricia Ann Maher, M.M., who was a principal and a teacher in the Philippines, died March 27 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 92.

Sister Patricia served as an elementary school teacher and later as an elementary and high school principal in the Philippines, from 1954 to 1968. She tutored college students in conversational English in Bolivia, 1998-2002, and Bangladesh, 1993-1997, and was involved in young adult ministry and pastoral work in Central America (El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama), 1974-1979.

Sister Patricia did Hispanic family ministry and pastoral work in Harrisburg, Pa., 1980-1992.

She did volunteer work at a prison and a hospital in Virginia before her retirement in 2008.

Born in Harrisburg, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1947 and made final vows in 1953. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College. She was formerly known as Sister M. Joseph Aileen.

A Funeral Mass was offered April 2 at Annunciation Chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery.
