Sister Paula Marie Spaight, S.C., an educator and administrator at several archdiocesan and area schools, died Dec. 3 at Mary the Queen Convent in Yonkers. She was 90.

She served as supervisor of schools for the Sisters of Charity, 1966-1970, and was principal of Our Lady of Mercy, Port Chester, 1970-1978, and at a school in Queens. She taught in the archdiocese at St. Raymond Elementary School in the Bronx, 1948-1955, and at St. Agatha’s Home, Nanuet, 1955-1962. She was librarian at St. Patrick’s School in lower Manhattan, 1983-1991.

She also served as regional coordinator of the Sisters of Charity, 1979-1983, and was coordinator at the Convent of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, 1978-1981.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1947, taking the name Sister Anne Virginia. She held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fordham University and two master’s, in elementary education from Hunter College, and in administration and supervision from Richmond College.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 6 at Mary the Queen Convent. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
