Sister Rita Marie Pino, O.P., who taught for many years in Bronx Catholic schools, died Dec. 2 at St. Martin de Porres Infirmary in Blauvelt. She was 94.

She taught in the Bronx at Our Saviour School, 1960-1967; Holy Spirit, 1972-1977; and St. Nicholas of Tolentine, 1977-1993.

She also taught at St. Dominic’s School, Blauvelt, 1943-1960, and at St. Anthony’s School, Oceanside, Long Island, 1967-1972.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1941 and professed final vows in 1946. She held a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. After leaving classroom teaching in 1993, she resided in the convent at St. Nicholas of Tolentine from 1993 to 2001, when she entered St. Martin de Porres Infirmary.

She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, including Father Joseph Pino, O.P.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 6 at St. Dominic’s Convent in Blauvelt, with burial in the convent cemetery.
