Sister Roseanne Saunders, S.A., directress of postulants at Graymoor for six years, died Nov. 15 at New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor. She was 91.

Sister Roseanne was directress of postulants, 1982-1988, when she guided young women in their beginning days at the convent. She joined the staff at Our Lady’s Guest and Retreat House at Graymoor in 1994 before she started working at the motherhouse’s reception desk in 2001.

She also served in parish and catechetical ministries in upstate New York and in New Jersey, New Hampshire, California and Georgia and in British Columbia, Canada.

Born in Ireland, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement in 1944 and professed final vows in 1952.

She is survived by her brothers, James and Thomas.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 21 in the motherhouse chapel at St. Francis Convent in Graymoor. Burial followed in the sisters’ cemetery.
