Sister Sebastian Conlon, F.S.P.

Sister Sebastian Conlon, F.S.P., a teacher and principal in the archdiocese for more than 30 years, died Dec. 30 at St. Cabrini Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 95.

Sister Sebastian served at Sacred Heart School, Yonkers, 1993-1999; St. Matthew School, Hastings-on-Hudson, 1974-1977; Sacred Heart, Highland Falls, 1967-1970; Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy School, the Bronx, 1964-1967 and 1949-1952; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Manhattan, 1963-1964 and 1957-1959; Holy Name of Mary, Croton-on-Hudson, 1959-1960; St. Jerome’s Day Nursery, the Bronx, 1952-1957; and St. Margaret’s Nursery, the Bronx, 1944-1949.

She served as supervisor of schools/community education advisor at Mount St. Francis, Peekskill, 1970-1974; and supervisor of schools and principal at Sacred Heart, Highland Falls, 1969-1970. She also taught and served as a principal in New Jersey.

She served as a member of her congregation’s provincial council, 1963-1969.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Peace in 1941 and professed final vows in 1948.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fordham University, and a master’s in Latin from St. Bonaventure University, Olean.

Her brother, Brother Thomas Conlon, O. Carm., and her sisters, Marie Wolf, Kirby Conlon and Imelda Smith, survive her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 3 in Marian Woods Chapel, Hartsdale. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
