Sister Teresa Miriam O'Connor, O.P.

Sister Teresa Miriam O'Connor, O.P., who taught on the elementary, secondary and college levels, died Aug. 26 at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 78. She was an instructor in education at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, 1992-2007. She taught at St. Helena's and Msgr. Scanlan high schools, 1956-1973; St. Theresa's School, 1951-1954; and St. Brendan's, 1949-1951, all in the Bronx; and at St. Catherine of Siena in Manhattan, 1954-1956. She also was a principal and teacher in the Diocese of Wilmington, Del. Born in Queens, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1947 and professed final vows in 1954. She held a bachelor's degree in education from Fordham University and a master's in business education from The Catholic University of America. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 30 at Dominican Convent, with burial at St. Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill.
