Sister Theresa Mary McPartland, O.P., who served as a principal and teacher in the archdiocese, died Dec. 19 at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. She was 84.

Sister Theresa Mary served as principal of two schools in the Bronx, St. Helena, 1978-1984, and St. Anthony, 1971-1976.

She was development director of St. John Chrysostom School, the Bronx, 2000-2006, where she was an assistant principal, 1976-1978, and teacher, 1954-1959. She also taught at Thorpe Secretarial School, Manhattan, 1967-1971, and in Fulton and Maryland.

She served on the leadership team of her religious congregation, the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, 1996-2000. She was administrator of Dominican Convent, Sparkill, 1984-1994.

She was a staff member at the Dowling Gardens senior citizen community, Sparkill, 1995-1996, and participated in the Career Options program at Calvary Hospital, the Bronx, 1994-1995.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1952 and made final vows in 1959. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University and a master’s in business education from Hunter College.

She is survived by her sister, Sister Margaret McPartland, O.P., and her brothers, Joseph McPartland and John McPartland.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 22 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Sparkill. Burial was at St. Agnes Cemetery.
