Sister Vanna Rauth, O.P.

Sister Vanna Rauth, O.P., who served at Our Lady of Refuge parish in the Bronx for four years, died July 5 at St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wis. She was 96.

Sister Vanna was liturgy coordinator and pastoral minister at Our Lady of Refuge, 1985-1989. She also served in New Jersey, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, California, South Dakota, Indiana, Ohio and Florida.

Born in Wabash, Neb., she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in 1941 and professed final vows in 1946.

She received her bachelor’s degree in music education from Rosary College, now Dominican University, River Forest, Ill., and her clinical pastoral education from Bethany Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

Her brothers, Father Philip Rauth, a retired priest of the Diocese of Lincoln, Neb., Joseph, Herman and John survive her.

A Funeral Mass was offered July 12 at the motherhouse in Sinsinawa, Wis. Burial was in the motherhouse cemetery.
