Sister Vincent Cirelli, O.P.

Sister Vincent Cirelli, O.P., who served as a teacher, principal and religious education director at schools and parishes in the archdiocese, died Aug. 21 in the St. Martin de Porres Community at the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Dominic in Blauvelt. She was 91.

Sister Vincent was principal of Holy Spirit School, the Bronx, 1977-1981. She was director of religious education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, Shrub Oak, 1972-1974, and regional director of religious education for Dutchess and Putnam Counties, 1969-1972.

She taught at St. Joseph School, Millbrook, 1961-1972; Our Lady of Victory, the Bronx, 1959-1961; St. Margaret, Pearl River; 1954-1959; and St. Anselm, the Bronx, 1953-1954.

She also served in religious education in New Jersey and as a pastoral assistant in Albany.

Born in Providence, R.I., she entered the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1951 and made final vows in 1955. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Dominican College in Orangeburg, and a master’s in theology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

She is survived by her sister, Flora Papa. Her twin sister, Sister Mary Cirelli, O.P., predeceased her.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 26 at St. Dominic Conve

nt in Blauvelt. Burial was at St. Dominic Cemetery.
