Sister Vivian Votruba, M.M.

Sister Vivian Votruba, M.M., a doctor who served in Peru for 27 years, died March 22 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Maryknoll. She was 98.

She served in Peru, 1960-1969, 1970-1982 and 1985-1991. She also was assigned to Mississippi, New Mexico, California, Albania, Nigeria and Bolivia.

Born in Minneapolis, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1940 and made final vows in 1946. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Vincent College, and a medical degree from Marquette School of Medicine in Milwaukee.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 27 in the main chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. Burial was in Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery.
