The Schola Cantorum of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, shared the gift of music with four performances of its Advent and Christmas concert Dec. 1-4.
Schola Cantorum, Latin for “school of singers,” is a choir composed of seminarians directed by Dr. Jennifer Donelson, associate professor and director of sacred music at St. Joseph’s. The concerts raised funds for the schola’s tour and pilgrimage to France, “Encounter With Monastic Spirituality and Gregorian Chant in France,” scheduled for July 24 to Aug. 2, 2017.
Cardinal Dolan attended the concert held at St. Joseph’s Dec. 4. The concert was also given at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Dec. 3, and at churches in the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre on Dec. 1 and 2.
