Sr. M. Basil McLane, I.H.M., who served as a principal at Immaculata High School in Manhattan, died March 22 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 103.

She was principal of Immaculata from 1962 until 1969. She also was a teacher and convent administrator in the Scranton area for more than 40 years.

Born in Archbald, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1925 and professed final vows in 1931.

She held a bachelor’s degree from Marywood College and a master’s from Villanova University, both in education.

Among those who predeceased her is a sister, Sister Agnes Teresa, S.C.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 25 at Our Lady of Peace Residence, with burial in St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
