Starting Catholic Schools Week Right

The Catholic School Region of Staten Island kicked off National Catholic Schools Week with a Mass and reception at Holy Rosary Parish Jan. 27.

Catholic elementary school students, parents, principals, pastors, deacons and archdiocese administrators joined in a Mass celebrated by Msgr. Peter Finn, pastor of Blessed Sacrament and dean of Staten Island. A procession started Mass with two student representatives from each Staten Island Catholic elementary school.

The National Catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops sponsor National Catholic Schools Week, which runs through Saturday, Feb. 2.

The 2019 National Catholic Schools Week theme is “Catholic Schools: Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed.” The week is marking its 45th anniversary.
