Three Priests Named Pastors of Parishes in the Archdiocese

Three priests were appointed pastors, one was named an administrator, and three others were named temporary administrators of parishes in the archdiocese, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

The newly named pastors are Father John W. Lynch, St. Augustine’s parish, Highland; Father Edward Russell, Incarnation, Manhattan; and Father Enrique Salvo, St. Anselm-St. Roch, the Bronx. Their appointments were effective July 1.

Father Kenneth Riello has been named administrator of St. Mary and St. Andrew, Ellenville. The temporary administrators are Father Frank Borkowski, St. Joseph, Florida; Father Uldarico De La Pena, St. Joseph, Kingston; Father Vincent Druding, Assumption, Peekskill; and Father Osiris Salcedo, S.D.B., St. Teresa’s, Manhattan. The appointments were effective July 1, except for Father Borkowski’s, which became effective June 26.

Four priests were named parochial vicars. They are Father Thomas Kreiser, Sacred Heart, Monroe; Father Andrew Kurzyna, Our Saviour-St. Stephen-Our Lady of the Scapular-Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Manhattan; Father Jose Marabe, St. Michael’s, Manhattan; and Father Matthew MacDonald, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Lagrangeville. Three of the appointments were effective July 1, and Father Kurzyna’s will become effective Aug. 1.

Appointed chaplain was Father Arthur Rojas, ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Rhinebeck. His appointment will be effective July 10.

Father John W. Lynch had served as pastor of St. Mary and St. Andrew parish in Ellenville since 2005. He was parochial vicar of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist, Beacon, 2003-2005; St. Aedan’s, Pearl River, 2002-2003; and St. Peter’s, Monticello, 1996-2002. He was ordained in 1996.

Father Edward Russell had served as pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Manhattan, since 2015, and regional dean of the Deanery of North Manhattan since 2014. He served as pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Manhattan, 2008-2014, and administrator, 2014-2015 and 2006-2008. He served at St. Pius V, the Bronx, as pastor, 1997-2006, and administrator, 1996-1997. He was parochial vicar of Incarnation, Manhattan, 1991-1996, and Immaculate Conception, Staten Island, 1983-1991. He was ordained in 1983.

Father Enrique Salvo had served as administrator of St. Anselm-St. Roch, the Bronx, since last July. He was vocations director for the archdiocese, 2012-2016, and was parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth, Manhattan, 2010-2012. He was ordained in 2010.

Father Frank Borkowski had served in several assignments as a U.S. Army chaplain, 1982-2003, achieving the rank of captain. He also served at St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 2003-2004, before taking a leave to care for his mother, and St. Peter’s, Rosendale, 1997-1982. He was ordained in 1977.

Father Uldarico De La Pena had served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph, Kingston, since 1999. He was parochial vicar at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill, 1994-1999. Ordained in his native Philippines, he was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2001.

Father Vincent Druding had served as parochial vicar of Assumption, Peekskill, since 2011. He also served at Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 2009-2011. He was ordained in 2009.

Father Kenneth Riello served as parochial vicar of St. Mary’s, Wappingers Falls, since last July. Before that, he had served at St. Teresa’s, Staten Island, since 2013. He was ordained in 2013.

Father Osiris Salcedo, S.D.B., had served as pastor of Incarnation, Manhattan, since last July, where he was parochial vicar, 2002-2004. He served as administrator of St. Pius V, the Bronx, 2012-2014. He was parochial vicar of St. John Chrysostom, the Bronx, 2010-2012, and St. Elizabeth, Manhattan, 2004-2010. He was ordained in his native Dominican Republic for the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1997.

Father Thomas Kreiser has been parochial vicar of St. Patrick, Yorktown Heights, since 2011. He was pastor of St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, 2008-2010, and parochial vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scarsdale, 2004-2008; St. Columba, Hopewell Junction, 2001-2004; and Sacred Heart, Monroe, 1994-1998. He did graduate studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum of St. Anselm, Rome, 1998-2001. He was ordained in 1994.

Father Andrew Kurzyna has served as pastor of Sacred Heart, Newburgh, since last July. He was administrator of St. Thomas of Canterbury, Cornwall-on-Hudson, 2015-2016. He was pastor of St. Patrick’s, Verplanck, 1996-2015, and administrator of St. Christopher’s, Buchanan, 2010-2015. He served as parochial vicar of St. Augustine’s, Highland; St. Mary’s, Wappingers Falls; Regina Coeli, Hyde Park; St. Martin de Porres, Poughkeepsie; Sacred Heart, Patterson; and St. John, West Hurley-Woodstock. He was ordained in 1974.

Father Matthew MacDonald has served as parochial vicar of St. Joseph, Somers, since last July. He was parochial vicar of St. James the Apostle, Carmel, 2014-2016. He was ordained in 2014.

Father Jose Marabe had served as parochial vicar of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Manhattan, since last July. He served as temporary director of the archdiocesan Filipino Apostolate. He served on the Metropolitan Tribunal, 2002-2015. He was ordained in his native Philippines in 1970 and incardinated into the archdiocese in 2009.

Father Arthur Rojas had served as administrator of St. Joseph, Yonkers, since 2013. He was parochial vicar of St. Joseph, Yonkers, 2009-2013 and 2006-2007; St. Peter, Monticello, 2008-2009; and Sacred Heart, the Bronx, 2007-2008. He was ordained in 2006.
