Brother Casey Cole, O.F.M. and Brother Ramon Razón, O.F.M., have professed final vows as religious brothers of the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Name Province.
The men, who entered the order in 2011, made vows of poverty, chastity and obedience at a Mass offered by Father Kevin Mullen, O.F.M., the province’s religious superior, Aug. 26 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manhattan.
Born in Lansdale Pa., Brother Cole, 28, is completing a master’s in divinity degree at the Chicago Theological Union. He studied theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. He is the author of the blog Breaking in the Habit, breakinginthtehagbit.org, and has produced numerous videos, including a series titled “A Friar Life,” available on YouTube, youtube.com/breakinginthehabit.
A native of the Philippines, Father Razón, 40, completed a yearlong internship in June at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Manhattan and in September will head St. Francis Urban Center in Philadelphia, where he will also work with the team at the province’s St. Francis Inn soup kitchen.
He earned a master’s degree in the teaching of English from Columbia University and a bachelor’s in development studies from Ateneo de Manila University. He also holds a master’s degree in spiritual and pastoral care from Loyola University.
Before joining the Franciscans, Father Razón was an instructor at the Expeditionary Learning School for Community Leaders in Brooklyn.
