I thought the article written by Bishop Byrne was excellent (CNY, July 14). One of his comments that resonated with me was the idea that atheism is now in fact a state religion. I have often considered secularism and many of the ideas that are presented to us as good, and politically incorrect to disagree with, are in fact part of a state religion.
If we began calling this what it is, then perhaps people would realize it is not un-American to disagree with these new tenets. It is actually very American to resist the government forcing a religion upon any of us. Just read the First Amendment of the Constitution. The Founding Fathers were wise when they placed this amendment first.
