Administrators, Temporary Administrators Named at Six Parishes

Priests were appointed as administrators and temporary administrators of six parishes in the archdiocese in the first three months of this year, the Cardinal’s Office announced.

Named as administrators were Msgr. Robert Robbins, Christ the King, Yonkers; Msgr. Kevin Sullivan, Our Saviour-St. Stephen-Our Lady of the Scapular, Manhattan; and Father Paul Waddell, St. Theresa, Briarcliff Manor. 

Appointed temporary administrators were Auxiliary Bishop Peter Byrne, Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx; Auxiliary Bishop Gerardo Colacicco, Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Port Ewen-Sacred Heart, Esopus; and Msgr. Marc Filacchione, St. Michael the Archangel, Manhattan.

Msgr. Robbins had been pastor of Our Saviour-Our Lady of the Scapular/St. Stephen, Manhattan, 2015-2021. He was pastor of Our Saviour and administrator of Our Lady of the Scapular/St. Stephen and the Chapel of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, 2013-2015. He was pastor of Holy Family, Manhattan, 1989-2011, and parochial vicar of Resurrection, Rye, 1974-1981. He also served as director of the archdiocesan Community Outreach Office and executive director of the archdiocesan Office of Development. He was ordained in 1974.

Msgr. Sullivan will continue as executive director of archdiocesan Catholic Charities, a position he has held since 2001. He also served Catholic Charities as chief operating officer, 1995-2001; director of the department of social development, 1987-1995; director of the office of special projects, 1985-1987; and staff associate of the department of family and children’s services, 1983-1985. He was temporary administrator of Our Saviour and St. Stephen-Our Lady of the Scapular and the Chapel of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus Mary, Manhattan, 2019-2021; temporary administrator of St. Gregory the Great, Manhattan, 1994; and parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth, Manhattan, 1976-1983. Ordained in 1976, he was named a monsignor in 1999.

Father Waddell served as parochial vicar of St. Augustine, Larchmont, 2019-2021; St. Clare of Assisi and St. Francis Xavier, the Bronx, 2018-2019; Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, 2015-2018; St. Joseph, Bronxville, 2014-2015; St. Mary of the Assumption, Katonah, 2003-2014; St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus, the Bronx, 1996-2003; St. Lucy’s, the Bronx, 1994-1996; St. Frances de Chantal, the Bronx, 1986-1993; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Bronx, 1984-1986; and St. Clare’s, Staten Island, 1993-1994. He was administrator of Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 1996. He was ordained in 1984.

Bishop Byrne, who was ordained a bishop by Cardinal Dolan in 2014, previously served as pastor of St. Elizabeth, Manhattan, 2013-2014, and Immaculate Conception, Staten Island, 1995-2013. He was administrator of Immaculate Conception and St. John the Baptist de la Salle, Staten Island, 1994-1995, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Bronx, 1992-1994. He served as parochial vicar of St. Teresa, Tarrytown, 1984-1992. He was ordained in 1984.

Bishop Colacicco, who was ordained a bishop by Cardinal Dolan in 2019, had served as pastor of St. Joseph, Millbrook-Immaculate Conception, Bangall, 2015-2019. He was administrator of St. Joseph, Millbrook, 2014-2015. He served as pastor of St. Columba, Hopewell Junction, 2002-2014, and Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 1996-2002. He was parochial vicar of St. Denis-St. Columba, Hopewell Junction, 1987-1989; Our Lady of Fatima, Scarsdale, 1984-1987; and Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, 1982-1984. He was a judge and defender of the bond in the Metropolitan Tribunal; director of pastoral formation at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie; and secretary to Cardinal John O’Connor. Ordained in 1982, he was named a monsignor in 1999.

Msgr. Filacchione has served as director of the archdiocesan Society for the Propagation of the Faith since 2016. He was in Manhattan as administrator of Our Lady of Victory-St. Andrew, 2015-2016; and pastor of Our Lady of Victory, 2004-2015, and St. Michael’s, 1992-2004, where he was administrator, 1989-1992. He became a New York City Fire Department chaplain in 1995. He was summer secretary to Cardinal John O’Connor, 1989, and served as parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament. Staten Island, 1980-1989. Ordained in 1980, he was named a monsignor in 1995.
