Archdiocese’s Churches to Ring Bells at Noon On Wednesday to Remember Lives Lost in Pandemic

All churches in the archdiocese, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral, will ring their bells together at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 30, to remember and honor the 322,000 lives lost to Covid-19 this year in the United States, the archdiocese announced.

The ringing of church bells traditionally has been a signal to the community that a moment of solemnity is taking place. The bells will toll Dec. 30 to mourn the souls lost, to comfort the families and friends who grieve and to move forward united in the hope of the blessings that await everyone in 2021.
