Maria Litrenta, a parishioner of St. Patrick’s in Yorktown Heights, organized a surprise birthday car parade May 22 leading to her house for her retired pastor, Msgr. Dermot R. Brennan, who turned 90 that day. Approximately 150 cars joined the afternoon caravan from Hyatt to Gregory streets in Yorktown Heights. Parade participants came from St. Patrick’s and other area parishes Msgr. Brennan has served. Due to the coronavirus, masks were worn and social distancing protocols were observed. Msgr. Brennan is also a former vicar of Northern Westchester and Putnam. He was pastor of St. Patrick’s, 1985-2005, and Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon, 1980-1985. Ordained in 1956, he was named a monsignor in 1990 and retired in 2005. He resides at the John Cardinal O’Connor Pavilion of the St. John Vianney Priests Residence in the Bronx.
